This is the last articles about Horizon View 7 which describes how to create Automated Desktop Pool.
Let’s finish all that.
1. So first of all log in to VMware Horizon Administrator and go to Catalog->Desktop Pools and then click on Add…
2. Today we will look at Automated Desktop Pool so select that and click Next:
3. Now we have 2 option. Dedicated is users assigned to the same machine each time they connect. Floating is users will receive machines picked randomly from the desktop pool each time they log in. So now we will choose Floating user assignment. Click Next:
4. Here we will select Full virtual machines. It means that VM source will be full virtual machines which created from vCenter server template, Click Next:
5. Here we need to enter Pool ID(pool ID must be unique and you can not change that after created) and Display Name, Access Group(this is for organizing the desktop pools in your organization) we can enter later, Click Next
6. On the Desktop Pool Setting page, you can configure the pool settings. I set some setting below(for example, HTML Access to “Enabled”) and the end clicks next:
7. Provisioning Setting we need to enter Naming Pattern and Pool Sizing. So I entered name(VDI-WIN10-{n:fixed=3}) for VM and I entered 1 to Max Number of machines. Click Next:
8. I have not VSAN so click next( if you have click the 1st option and use that):
9. Click Browse and select all setting below:
10. On this screen set like as below and click Next:
11. Select Guest customization specification and click Next:
12. And Finally, click on Finish to complete :
As we see pool ID was created successfully.
And machine created on vCenter server.
After all, machines created successfully we can connect them with VMware Horizon Client and VMware Horizon HTML Access which we enabled when we created Desktop Pool. First, we will connect with VMware Horizon Client. Enter connection Server IP address or FQDN Name on the Browser:
Click on Install VMware Horizon Client to download and install that, Click on I agree & Install:
After Installation completed double click on that :
Click Add Server to connect Connection server:
First, enter IP or FQDN Name for Connection server:
And then Type Username and Password for authentication:
After that we can see our created machine, Click on that and log in:
The same way we can connect with VMware Horizon HTML Access. To do that Click on VMware Horizon HTML Access and enter your credentials. After that, you will see all the machines.
