Before Update VMware Tools we need to upgrade host version to new version. If when clicking to virtual machine on “Summary” tab VMware Tools field have Running(Out-of-date) message, it’s means that we need to update VMware Tools.
For Upgrading VMware tools we need to login vSphere Client and right click on VM you want to upgrade and Select Guest -> Install/Upgrade VMware Tools ,
then choose “Automatic Tools upgrade” and click OK.
After installing VMware Tools restart the VM . So you will see Running(Current) on the “VMware Tools” section.
